Description
We often had better luck finding Giza at night, when the sounds of her prey betrayed her whereabouts. In daylight she was far less predictable and almost impossible to track.
Although black is far from a camouflage color in daylight, it took only a split second for her to disappear back into the bush and grasses. The only chance to find her was when she crossed an open area, and we scanned those gaps carefully with binoculars. Once spotted, we had to move quickly, get closer, and position ourselves in front of her.
This photo, titled Black Majesty, is in black and white, but I left a trace of desaturated greens in the grasses, which gives it a special look.
Taken in Kenya.
