Description
We had just landed on the airstrip and were making our way to the lodge in the rainy and gloomy weather the Serengeti welcomed us with. Here and there, the sun broke through gaps in the storm clouds, lighting up parts of the landscape.
With our bags piled in the vehicle and most gear out of reach, I didn’t have all my cameras and lenses ready, so I didn’t expect much from that first drive. But later, when I checked the photos, I quickly changed my mind.
The lioness we encountered seemed to have claimed the kopjes as her throne, surveying the plains on a storm-laden day. A root crawling up the granite looked as if nature itself was reaching for her throne.
Taken in Tanzania.
